Mr B's review

I found this book very satisfying: it weaves together Greek mythology and a cast of new characters in a Georgian London setting. Pandora lives with her uncle who has ruined the reputation of her parent’s once-reputable antiquary shop and dismisses Pandora’s dreams to design jewellery. Her lonely life in the shop attic, with only her pet magpie for company, is transformed when she meets Edward, an aspiring antiquarian. They make a deal to work together when they together discover an ancient pithos jar hidden in the shop basement. However, danger spreads when they realise that the true origin of the pithos is more complex than they first expected, putting everyone connected to the jar at risk.
Countless lies and misunderstandings create tension between the characters, especially as romance and friendships develop. The layers of unravelling secrets turn this story into an enjoyably atmospheric mystery. Katrina

Description

Dora Blake’s life has been confined to her family’s antiquities shop in Georgian London until a mysterious Greek treasure threatens to expose deadly secrets.

When an unusual ancient Greek vase arrives at her overbearing uncle’s antiquities business, Dora joins forces with Edward Lawrence, a young antiquarian scholar to investigate it. Together, they uncover family secrets that have Dora questioning everything she has believed about her life and the world as she knows it.

Blending Georgian historical fiction with Gothic mystery and the myth of Pandora’s box, Pandora unfolds across winter streets, docklands, and Mayfair drawing rooms as Dora fights to reclaim her future.
